Stolen cable was recently recovered and handed over to the Margate South African Police Service (SAPS) thanks to the rapid response of a local security company.
“Just before 08h00 on Monday the 23rd January, our Specialised Intervention Unit (SIU) team received a call from the community regarding three suspicious men who were seen carrying cables along the N2,” says Charnel Hattingh, Head of Marketing and Communications at Fidelity Services Group.
Fidelity SIU members immediately investigated and soon spotted the suspects matching the description provided. “As soon as the suspects saw our team they dropped the stolen cables and fled into the bush. Our team managed to recover the cables and handed these over to the Margate SAPS,” says Hattingh.
A contractor from the local RDP housing project arrived and confirmed that the cables were stolen from his site.
Should you notice suspicious activity, contact the local SAPS or your private security company immediately.
“It is important to be able to provide a thorough description of a suspect to authorities to assist them in positively identifying and apprehending suspects. Take note of a suspect’s height, clothing description, nationality, build and any distinguishing features such as scars, a limp and/or tattoos,” Hattingh concluded.
