Adding Security to Tree Route Park: A community success story

Tree Route Park in Constantia Park has undergone a remarkable transformation, thanks to the dedication of the local community and the support of key partners. Once an underutilised space facing safety and maintenance challenges, the park has evolved into a thriving green haven that attracts approximately 100–150 visitors regularly.

Driven by the Constantia Park Community and managed through the Tree Route Park Non-Profit Company (NPC), the park’s revitalisation has been an inspiring journey. Since its official registration as a Community Upliftment Precinct earlier this year, significant improvements have been made, including regular grass mowing, the planting of 50 trees, the installation of seating and dustbins, and even the construction of a cycling pump track. Security has also been a key focus, with CCTV coverage enhancing safety at no cost to the NPC.

To further bolster security efforts, Fidelity ADT Garsfontein has stepped in with critical support. The security company has sponsored a Panic Pack, allowing contributors to the NPC to access a panic button while enjoying the park with their families. Additionally, Fidelity ADT has installed awareness boards to reassure visitors of their presence and conducts regular stand-offs at the park over weekends, ensuring a visible security presence.

“Tree Route Park is a testament to the power of community collaboration. We are proud to support this initiative, helping residents feel safe while they enjoy this incredible space,” says Charnel Hattingh, Group Head of Marketing & Communications at Fidelity ADT. “By working together, we are not just keeping a park clean—we are creating a safer, stronger community.”

The success of Tree Route Park is a true community effort, with 96 individuals and organisations contributing towards its upkeep. The park’s transformation has already had a significant impact, with issues like loitering, littering, and illegal parking being almost entirely eradicated.

As the park continues to grow, the community calls on more residents to get involved and contribute towards keeping this precious space safe and well-maintained.
