A public safety officer with the Boston CID responded to two early morning incidents within the space of two hours this week in Beville.
“The first incident happened when the officer came upon four homeless people who were busy unloading boxes from a parked car. They told the officer that they had been asked by the owner to remove the boxes but there was clear evidence that one of the vehicle’s windows had been forced open,” explains Mr Jade Hanning, Western Cape General Manager for Fidelity ADT.
Armed response officers and Bellville SAPS arrived at the scene, and helped to take the four suspects into custody.
The same public safety officer was again called into action barely two hours later.
“He had arrived at a school premises on Herbert Street for the end of his shift, when he noticed an unidentfied person on the school grounds. When the suspect became aggressive, he was detained by the officer. A search led to the discovery of a cellphone, a knife, and a plastic firearm.”
Hanning says Bellville SAPS soon arrived to take the suspect away for questioning.
