A bicycle was recovered by police in the east of Paarl this week, after an alleged housebreaking incident.
“One of our armed response officers responded to a panic alarm signal from an address on Bennet Street (on Tuesday morning). The customer told our officer that an unidentified suspect had entered his garage and stolen a mountain bike before fleeing,” says Warren Cassisa, Paarl branch manager for Fidelity ADT.
The officer was given a detailed description of the clothing worn by the alleged suspect, as well as the direction in which he reportedly fled. “This information helped our officer to track down the suspect and apprehended him, before he was handed over into police custody,” says Cassisa.
The suspect was charged with theft and housebreaking by Paarl East SAPS.
A second suspect was arrested on Thursday, in an unrelated incident.
“One of our officers was patrolling New Orleans on Thursday morning (around 02.55am) when he noticed someone pushing a wheelbarrow. Several items were discovered inside the wheelbarrow, which were reportedly stolen from a nearby business. This suspect was also taken into custody by Paarl East SAPS, on a charge of being in possession of suspected stolen property.
“Well done to our officers who helped ensure these suspects were apprehended,” says Cassisa.
