Fidelity ADT urges Richard’s Bay residents to remain vigilant about security and to report any suspicious activity to local authorities and private security companies.
“We have noted an increase in break-ins where thieves are jumping over boundary walls to steal items in the yard and/or shed such as power tools, bicycles and garden equipment. In some instances where access in gained into the home, valuables that are easy to carry are targeted such as laptops, cellphones and jewellery. These incidents generally occur during the early hours of the mornings between 3:00 and 4:30 when residents are fast asleep and between 9:00 and 11:00 when homeowners are at work. This trend has been prominent across the Apiesdoring, Appelblaar, Acacia Canopy and Alberta areas, with twelve incidents reported over the past month alone,” explains Anbin Govender, Branch Manager for Fidelity ADT Richards Bay
Fidelity ADT, together with the South African Police Services (SAPS) and local Community Policing Forum (CPF) are working in partnership to conduct regular hotspot patrols in order to deter crime.
“Residents are urged to remain vigilant, to always arm their alarm system when leaving their home, and to consider installing early warning systems such as outdoor beams as an additional security measure. In addition, they are encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately to the local SAPS or their private security company,” concludes Govender.
