A suspect was arrested after he allegedly illegally gained entry to a church building in the early morning hours of Friday 29 April 2022 (at approx. 3am).
“We sent an armed response officer to investigate multiple alarm signals from the church on Fourie Road,” says Verena Hulme, Cape Town North district manager at Fidelity ADT.
On arrival at the address, the officer searched the building and located an unidentified person inside. He was apprehended, and Elsies River SAPS soon arrived to take the suspect into custody.
This was the second incident to which this officer responded to on the night, says Hulme.
“About four hours earlier, he heard a radio report of an alleged robbery in the Viking Park area. The complainant was reportedly chasing the alleged assailant and our officer went to investigate.”
He was able to apprehend the alleged suspect and detain him. The complainant however chose not to press charges as his stolen property was recovered.
