A resident on Rochea Close raised the alarm this week, when he saw two unidentified suspects attempting to break into a property next door. Police and armed response officers were able to later track down the suspects and arrest them.
“One of our armed response officers was busy patrolling the area on Wednesday afternoon (18 November, around 13h31) when he was alerted by the WatchCon monitoring centre of the incident on Rochea Close. The resident who raised the alarm was able to give a very detailed description of the suspects, and this information was shared with all officers in the area,” says Jade Hanning, Cape Town South district manager at Fidelity ADT.
The suspects were later spotted walking along Albert Road. A member from another armed response company encountered two men that matched the description given earlier, and requested backup from his counterpart at Fidelity ADT.
“Our officer arrived in Albert Road, where he and the other officer chased after the suspects and apprehended them before handing them over into the custody of the Hout Bay SAPS. This was a great example of the value of teamwork between security partners in the suburb, and also the importance of neighbors looking after one another and raising the alarm when they see anything wrong,” says Hanning.
