The Fidelity ADT security hut situated in Fairview Road, Kloof recently received a complete makeover thanks to the generosity of the local community.
Community leader, Jill Jaggard, spearheaded the initiative and together with residents gave the hut and its roof a fresh coat of paint and added a sign board to the side of the hut that says ‘there is power in kindness’ – a wonderful reminder to the local community of the importance of being kind.
“The Fairview Road security guards conduct regular foot patrols in the area whilst also managing access control to the street. They work on a 24 hour basis, seven days a week and have become an integral part of the safety and security of the street residents and the community. They are linked to our Fidelity ADT armed response team and also have access to our medical emergency partner, Netcare 911. Foot patrol guarding is a popular community security solution and serves as an additional security layer with access to a wide range of security and emergency related resources,” says Fidelity ADT’s district manager for KwaZulu-Natal, Vaughan Pillay.
The Fairview Road security hut was established over a decade ago, in November 2010. “After painting the guard hut we decided to add the board as a means to show our support towards the Fidelity ADT guards and also our residents. These guards serve our community with humility and kindness and set an example for us all,” says Jill Jaggard.
