Fidelity ADT recently partnered with Glenwood residents to address crime concerns in the area and launched a Localised Security Scheme (LSS) based on the corner of Princess Alice Avenue and Sir Duncan Road.
“The LSS security project involves foot patrol guards looking after the safety and security of the residents in the area. These guards are based at a specific location but move around constantly to make sure that everything within the area is without any crime related issues. They have tags that they use to clock in at certain points and this is monitored by supervisors,” says Fidelity ADT’s district manager for KwaZulu-Natal, Vaughan Pillay.
Several discussions were held with community leaders who raised their concerns over the high number of incidents in their area.
“Their concerns were shared and we were able to formulate a tailored security solution for their street. The foot patrol guards are currently working in the area and we can already see how this has given the residents some much needed peace of mind, knowing that someone is looking out for their safety,” Pillay added.
All the guards are linked to the Fidelity ADT armed response fleet which serves as back up should an emergency situation arise. In addition, they have access to the Durban-based Community Control Room (CCR) which is located at the Fidelity ADT offices in Pinetown. The CCR is linked to various emergency services and is able to intervene with the appropriate resources should any kind of emergency occur, including unforeseen medical or fire emergencies.
“We look forward to the success of this new LSS site, especially with this being linked to our armed response vehicles and the CCR. Adding this additional layer of security will ensure residents are kept as safe as possible,” Pillay concluded.
