Police have arrested two suspects in connection with an alleged house robbery that took place in the Nova Constantia area (around midday on Wednesday 9 February 2022).
The Constantia Valley Information Centre (CVIC) Radio Network played a big part in the successful arrest of the suspects, explains Mr Jade Hanning, Western Cape General Manager at Fidelity ADT.
“One of our armed response vehicles monitored a radio transmission that described a house robbery in progress along Zomerlust Street, and immediately made his way to the address.”
Hanning explains that one of the Constantia Watch special response units also arrived at the address, and the officers encountered three unknown suspects who tried to run away when they saw the officers.
“One of the suspects was detained outside while a second was located inside the property where he was hiding. A third suspect managed to evade apprehension.”
Both suspects were handed over into the custody of Kirstenhof SAPS, while the items they had tried to steal were successfully recovered.
“This case showed the value of having a community network that shares accurate crime related information quickly and to as many role players as possible. If you become aware of any suspicious activity in your street or suburb, please raise the alarm so that the appropriate response can be deployed. We can make Nova Constantia and the rest of Cape Town safer by standing together and looking out for one another,” says Hanning.
