A Margate family has expressed their gratitude for the rapid response of a local Armed Response Officer who recently assisted them during a medical emergency.
The Fidelity ADT Security Monitoring Centre received a medical alarm activation from a Margate home and immediately dispatched Armed Response Officer (ARO), Sibuso Ngeleka, who arrived at the Tedder Avenue property within minutes.
“All our ARO’s are equipped with in-vehicle tablet devices which enable them to receive auto dispatch signals as soon as a customer’s alarm is activated, enhancing response times. In any emergency situation we are all aware that time is of the essence and we therefore ensure that all our responses are done in an effective and efficient manner. In addition, and in line with regulations to control and prevent the spread of the coronavirus we have provided all our staff with the necessary PPE equipment to ensure the safety of both our employees and customers,” says Fidelity ADT’s district manager for KwaZulu-Natal, Vaughan Pillay.
Upon arrival, ARO Ngeleka met with a distraught mother who explained that her teenage daughter was experiencing medical distress. Officer Negeleka immediately alerted the control room and contacted Netcare 911. An ambulance arrived within minutes and transported the mother and daughter to hospital for medical care.
“All our officers are trained to deal with any kind of emergency situation, including medical emergencies. In addition we have a partnership with Netcare 911 who responds to all our customers’ residence in case of a medical emergency. This medical service is offered to all our customers at no additional charge. This service enables our control room to dispatch an ambulance to your home in case of an emergency and includes the transportation of the patient to the nearest hospital for further medical care,” concluded Pillay.
