Police arrested a suspect in Plumstead this week (Monday 11 April 2022 at around 16h24) on a charge of trespassing and for contravening the requirements of a court order. It follows a call for help from the suspect’s ex-wife.
“We responded to a radio report from the CVIC monitoring center which asked for armed response to assist. A female complainant was at her place of work, where her ex-husband was alleged to be harassing her while at the same time acting in contravention of a court order,” explains Mr Jade Hanning, Western Cape General Manager at Fidelity ADT.
An armed response officer went to the address and inspected a copy of the court order. It showed at least two stipulations which the suspect had allegedly contravened. “Our officer detained the suspect and requested that the SAPS be called to the scene,” says Hanning.
Police officers soon arrived to take the suspect into custody, on charges of trespassing and contravening a court order.
Hanning says the same armed response officer was involved in another arrest incident in the Plumstead area, this time on Saturday morning (9 April 2022).
“It was just after 6am that our officer was asked by the CVIC monitoring center to investigate a report of a suspicious person walking through the area. The person was located and searched, and his backpack was found to contain several household tools.
“The suspect was handed over into custody of Diep River SAPS and charged with being in possession of suspected stolen property,” says Hanning.
