Fidelity ADT is alerting all nursery schools in the Centurion & Pretoria East areas to be aware of suspects who are targeting parents fetching their children from nursery schools .
Leon Muller, District manager Fidelity ADT, says in a recent incident parents were waiting outside the suspects stopped their car, jumped out and grabbed handbags of a few unsuspecting parents and fled the scene. These are opportunistic criminals looking to steal handbags, cellphones and other valuables.
“If you suspect this is going on, please do not confront the suspects, but call 10111, as well as your security company.
Please remain vigilant. Check your surroundings, check for people walking on the street, do not wait outside of a gate that must open for you, make sure your hands are not full. Lock away handbags, laptops and any valuables in your boot. If possible, look for identifying features of the suspects so a full description can be done afterwards and try to get a vehicle registration and description of the car,” he says.
