A joint crime intelligence operation in the Hillcrest area led to the successful apprehension of a wanted suspect.
“On Wednesday 11 September, members from our Specialised Intervention Unit (SIU) and several other role players involved in the crime intelligence driven operation acted on information received in Hillcrest,” explains Charnel Hattingh, head of communications and marketing for the Fidelity Services Group.
A wanted suspect was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of an unlicensed state issued firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. One Rossi 38 special revolver, 5 spent 38sp cartridges, one 9mm magazine with 12 live 9mm rounds and one gas pistol was recovered.
The suspect and recovered items were handed over to the Hillcrest South African Police Service (SAPS).
“Congratulations to everyone involved in this successful joint operation for their great teamwork in bringing this wanted suspect to book,” concludes Hattingh.
