A suspect wanted in connection with an open arrest warrant was located in Southfield last weekend, and is now in police custody. He was arrested on Saturday afternoon (21 August 2021, at around 16h50).
“Armed response officer Adnaan Safodien was on patrol in the area when he was contacted by Law Enforcement, asking for his assistance. They told him that a suspect wanted in connection with an existing warrant had been spotted in the area and they provided a description of the person in question,” explains Mr Jade Hanning, Western Cape General Manager for Fidelity ADT.
Officer Safodien continued his patrols, and soon located a person matching the description along Victoria Road. “He apprehended the suspect and waited for police to arrive to take him into custody,” says Hanning.
The arrest warrant relates to an alleged incident of housebreaking.
“This is officer Safodien’s second apprehension in the area this month. He nabbed a suspect on the 12th in connection with an incident of trespassing and possession of drugs, and this same suspect was later also connected to an incident of malicious damage to property elsewhere in the suburb.
“We are proud to have him on our team,” says Hanning.
