Working for an armed response company means your day is spent mostly responding to acts of crime. There are those instances though when you are called upon to go that one step further.
“In two separate incidents one of our area managers was asked to come to the aid of people, who by accident had locked themselves out of their homes. In both cases, Donovan van der Westhuizen was able to respond and lend a hand,” says Marius Boshoff, Hermanus branch manager at Fidelity ADT.
In the first case, a resident from Arcadia Street in Northcliff realised that her keys were inside her home, when the door slammed shut and left her with no way of getting inside. A similar story played out a few days later, when another resident from Northcliff asked for help when her key got stuck in her security gate.
“Donovan was off duty on both days when the calls for help came in. He was able to quickly respond and help the two residents open the doors and get back inside their homes.
“I am proud to have Donovan as part of our Hermanus team. It is these little things they do, that also make a real positive difference in the lives of our residents. No matter who you are or what your line of work might be, it is within your power to show someone a bit of kindness today,” says Boshoff.
