Role-players in a local community security project say their teamwork approach should serve as an example to other communities. The Blanco Neighbourhood Watch (BNW) has partnered with armed response company Fidelity ADT.
“We are delighted with the pro-active efforts from the BNW who has been excellent in getting this project off the ground successfully. We have enjoyed the opportunity to be able to assist them in finding the most appropriate solutions for their security needs,” Pieter Meiring, Garden Route Branch Manager for Fidelity ADT.
It was the role played by the company’s technical field line manager Eric Gouws, says Meiring, which made a particular impact on this successful collaboration. “Eric played a critical role in setting up the security project which involved the installation of community security cameras as well as security boards to enhance the presence of both ourselves and the BNW.”
Deon van der Rijst, the chairperson of the BNW, also highlighted Eric’s role in this project.
“During the lockdown period, Eric and the armed response team were phenomenal. I would like to acknowledge them for always assisting with patrols and call outs. They are always ready to jump to action whenever we call for assistance.”
“We would also like to thank them for the continued support with our camera project. They have helped us to set up twenty-six strategically located cameras across our area to monitor our streets,” says Der Rijst.
The Blanco security project involves community security cameras, signboards as well as regular visible patrols. Community security solutions have become a popular trend in the Garden Route with many communities taking the necessary proactive safety measures. This is often done in collaboration with security companies, law enforcement and other Neighbourhood Watches.
Der Rijst says the BNW looks forward to their continuous partnership with Fidelity ADT. “We deeply appreciate their monumental effort and helpfulness.”
