A local community in Port Elizabeth received new security cameras from a private security company this week following a request for a security assessment earlier this year.

“We were initially asked to conduct a security assessment and determined that a CCTV solution, once strategically placed, could make a positive impact in the fight against crime in the suburb. These cameras are affordable technology that can serve as a vital crime deterrent and we were delighted to have been able to assist,” says Fidelity ADT’s branch manager for Port Elizabeth, Ryan Britz.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the installation of the cameras had to be delayed, but they are now officially up and running. This is the first part of a two phase approach with more CCTV cameras planned for implementation in the near future.

“Local residents Sheryll Ann and Sandy Stock initiated the project on behalf of the community and played an integral part in getting the cameras installed. We would like to thank them for their proactive approach and for giving us the opportunity to help find the best security solution for their community,” says Britz.

These security cameras are linked to the Community Information Centre (CIC) which is monitored by CCTV operators based at the Fidelity ADT offices in Port Elizabeth. The CIC serves as a central contact point for any municipal or security services that are needed in and around town. A link with Netcare911 means that medical services can also be alerted, when needed.
