A suspect was arrested after he reportedly stole items from a farm outside Paarl recently. The 27-year old suspect was due to make a court appearance On Tuesday, in connection with the incident.
“It is alleged that the suspect broke into a building on one of the farms early on Saturday morning. The owner of the farm noticed suspicious activity on their CCTV cameras and called for help,” says Warren Cassisa, Paarl branch manager for Fidelity ADT.
Members of the Drakenstein Farm Watch responded, with backup from two Fidelity ADT armed response vehicles.
“The video footage ensured that everyone had a detailed description of the suspect in question. Our two response vehicles were able to intercept him at the farm gate before he could flee,” says Cassisa.
Suspected stolen items were also found in his possession, and he was handed over into police custody. A SAPS spokesperson confirmed to Netwerk24 that the suspect was due to appear in court on Tuesday 22 March 2022, and that he would be facing charges of housebreaking and possession of stolen property.
