Humewood police arrested three suspects recently, after they were caught with drugs in their possession. The arrest was made possible by two armed response officers who were conducting patrols in the area.
“Two of our armed response vehicles came across three unidentified suspects outside a liquor store in Summerstrand early one morning. Our officers stopped to question the men, as they appeared to be acting suspiciously. The men were also outdoors in public, which was in contravention of curfew regulations,” says Ryan Britz, Port Elizabeth branch manager for Fidelity ADT.
The suspects’ behavior became even more suspicious when they were questioned by the armed response officers which led to a request for the SAPS to be dispatched to the scene.
“It was at this point that one of the men reportedly admitted that they were consuming drugs. There was also a failed attempt to reportedly bribe the officers,” says Britz.
When SAPS arrived on the scene, they found drugs and a sum of cash.
“Well done to our officers who trusted their training and responded when they saw something suspicious. This ultimately led to another successful arrest,” says Britz.
