With retail robberies on the rise, three suspects have been arrested following an attempted break-in at a jewellery store at Woodlands Mall at around 15:10 on the 18th July.
The suspects arrived at the shopping mall in a silver VW polo. One of the suspects entered the mall and attempted to smash the jewellery window but was spotted by mall security and ran off.
Fidelity ADT Reaction Officers Terrence Mamogobo and Godfrey Thobejane were dispatched responding to a panic button activation. Upon arrival, together with centre guards, they managed to track down the getaway vehicle and arrest the other two suspects, as well as find the 3rd suspect by acting quickly on the suspect’s description,. They found him in the vicinity of the mall walking towards Garsfontein road on the Parkview centre side when he was apprehended.
All three suspects were handed over to Garsfontein SAPS.
Leon Muller, District manager Fidelity ADT, says this is a great example of how a complete security solution can lead to successful arrests. “From the panic activation, to the remote monitoring to the quick response of the reaction officers, all aspects of the system worked together to bring about these arrests. Businesses, especially, should consider their security solution and see it as an investment,” he concludes.
