Two suspects were arrested by police in Kuils River this week, in connection with two separate incidents where residential garages were broken into.
“The first incident was on Tuesday night on Langverwacht Road (26 October 2021 at around 11pm) when one of our armed response officers was asked to investigate when the alarm beams in a customer’s garage was triggered,” says Verena Hulme, Cape Town North district manager at Fidelity ADT.
“When our officer was approaching the address he saw three unknown suspects who appeared to be busy breaking into the garage. Our officer manager to apprehend two of the suspects, before they were handed over into the custody of Kuils River SAPS.”
Hulme says the second incident was along Patrys Street, early on Wednesday morning (around 4am). “
One of our armed response officers was on his way to investigate a reported theft out of a garage, when he spotted a person on a bicycle drive past him. When our officer arrived at the address and was told that a bike had just been stolen from the garage, he realised that the person he saw earlier was possibly the alleged suspect. He was able to go back on the route he had followed and soon located and apprehended the alleged suspect,” says Hulme.
The bicycle was positively identified by the Patrys Street resident, and the suspect was handed over into custody of Kuils River SAPS.
