A resident from Vredehoek in Cape Town has been reunited with his vehicle, not long after three suspects tried to steal the vehicle from an address on Aloe Street.
“One of our armed response officers was on patrol in the area early on Saturday morning (2 October around 5.25am) when he noticed a passenger vehicle struggling to reverse out of a driveway. When the occupants of the car noticed our officer, they sped up in a clear attempt to evade apprehension,” explains Mr Jade Hanning, Western Cape general manager at Fidelity ADT.
“Our officer followed the speeding vehicle down Mill Street in the direction of Philip Kgosana Drive, while calling for backup from other armed response vehicles in the area.”
Hanning says the driver of the vehicle at that point lost control of the allegedly stolen car, and crashed it into the armed response vehicle which was in pursuit. The driver and two occupants jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot.
“Our officer was able to use his vehicle to block the stolen car in such a way as to prevent it causing danger to other road users. The owner of the allegedly stolen vehicle was alerted that his car had been recovered, while police also arrived to take over the investigation into the incident,” says Hanning.
